The overall vision of this ministry is to almost be mini-churches in which every member gets deeply connected with several others, and where needs can most immediately be met when they arise. A lot of that stems from Acts 2.42-47, where the new believers devoted themselves to the “apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” They also “had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts.” Some of the clear principles there are constant fellowship (defined not just as “hanging out”), big and small gatherings, and a deep generous care over all the believers. Our hope is that care groups will help us fulfill more constant fellowship, smaller gatherings where people can know each other better, and through that come to know each others’ needs better and meet them.
A typical care group meeting will be in someone's home, where you might eat together, share about our lives together, and pray together. If you have questions or would like to check out one of the groups, see Todd.
